Rick Krebs is a highly experienced cost estimator and project advisor with more than three decades of heavy civil and transit industry expertise. He began his career in construction management and has built deep experience across cost estimating, constructability, and risk evaluation for major infrastructure programs. Today, Rick supports owners and agencies nationwide with independent cost estimating, negotiation support, and technical guidance on complex megaprojects.
Career Journey
Rick started his career with Kiewit, where he spent 10 years gaining extensive field and project management experience on large-scale civil projects. He then joined Granite Construction, serving as both Project Manager and Area Manager for three years before moving into an Area Manager role for a mid-size utility contractor in Salt Lake City.
Since 2007, Rick has focused on independent advisory services, providing cost estimating, constructability reviews, risk assessments, and change order and price negotiations for major heavy civil and transit programs across the country. His background in both contractor and owner perspectives gives him a balanced, practical approach to project planning and execution.
Rick has led Independent Cost Estimating (ICE) and negotiation efforts on an extensive range of alternative delivery projects, including 42 CMGC, 4 GCCM, 3 CMAR, 6 PDB, 30 Design-Build, and 6 Design-Bid-Build projects. He has also guided early project development, feasibility studies, and budget-setting estimates for multiple agencies. Rick’s work consistently supports clients in achieving accurate project budgets, informed negotiations, and dependable construction planning.
